Claflin Hill Presents Memorial Hall Chamber Concert;
Receives Cultural Council Grants
The Claflin Hill Symphony’s Memorial Hall Chamber Concerts – “Signature Series” continues on Saturday, February 18th at 7:30 PM in Memorial Hall – featuring Jane Circle, Soprano, joined by CHSO Pianist John Zielinski and Paul Surapine on Clarinet.

The program will feature American Folk Songs of Copland, English Folk songs by Arnold Cooke, Schubert’s immortal “Shepherd on the Rock” for soprano and clarinet, Mozart’s “Parto,parto” from Titus and more, including Broadway selections.
Tickets are $15, $12 student/senior and may be ordered by calling Claflin Hill at 508-478-5924. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the performance.
Claflin Hill Receives Cultural Council Grants . . .
Claflin Hill has been the recipient of a number of Local Cultural Council Grants for 2006 from seven different communities in our region, in amounts from $500 to $40, amounting to a total so far of almost $1600.
The seven communities who have voted support of Claflin Hill include the Local Cultural Councils of Bellingham, Franklin, Hopedale, Hopkinton, Mendon, Medway, and Upton. Each of these Local Cultural Councils are made up of volunteers from their communities who serve on the LCC and vote to distribute funds to worthy artistic endeavors that touch the residents of their individual town. Each Local Cultural Council is supported by funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which is a state agency.

“It is important to note that the state slashed the MCC budget several years ago by at least 62%, so the funding each LCC receives to allocate has also been drastically reduced,” said Paul Surapine, Executive & Artistic Director of Claflin Hill. “It is immensely gratifying for us at Claflin Hill to receive the support from these Local Cultural Councils – no matter how large or small – as a validation and recognition of the growing impact that Claflin Hill is affecting on ALL of the communities of our region, and we thank each and every one of those Cultural Councils for their vote of support and special thanks to each individual who serves voluntarily on those councils.”
