The Metrowest Youth
Symphony Orchestra (MetYSO) is a nonprofit
music education program which provides dedicated young musicians
with advanced orchestral training in an atmosphere that is
demanding, supportive, and fun.

Paul Surapine, Music Director and
Conductor

For the past three
years, Paul Surapine has served as Music Director for MetYSO
students.
Mr. Surapine graduated from Hartt School of Music and
studied extensively with Kalmen Opperman. His performance
experience includes The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra,
Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and Hartford Chamber Orchestra.
He has appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York as a member of
the Kalmen Opperman Clarinet Choir in concert with Richard
Stoltzman. He has also recorded with Stoltzman and the
Kalmen Opperman Clarinet Choir for RCA on the recording
"Hark", a record of Christmas music. Mr. Surapine is the
Founder and Executive and Artistic Director of
The Claflin Hill Music Performance
Foundation based in
Milford, MA. As such, he is the conductor of The Claflin
Hill Symphony Orchestra, The Claflin Hill Summer Winds, as
well as the occasional principal clarinetist for the CHSO.
Mr. Surapine is a faculty member at The College of The Holy
Cross, Clark University, Worcester State College, and the
Joy of Music Program in Worcester, MA, and Indian Hill Arts
in Littleton, MA. He has resided in Milford, MA with his
wife, Susan and two sons, Zachary and Joshua since 1992. |
