CHYS 2026–27: Our Inaugural Festival Season
As we relaunch the Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies, we’re taking a thoughtful approach to building a strong and sustainable program for the future.
For the 2026–27 inaugural season, CHYS will offer two focused, immersive music festivals—one in October 2026 and one in February 2027. These compact experiences are designed in the spirit of All-State and District festivals and summer music camps, giving students the opportunity to make music together without adding another weekly commitment to already busy family schedules.
What to Expect
Each festival will bring students together for an intensive musical experience featuring:
Group rehearsals focused on ensemble playing and musicianship
Masterclasses and coaching with professional musicians and experienced music educators
Sectional work designed to strengthen individual and ensemble skills
Performance preparation and a culminating concert experience
The opportunity to meet, collaborate, and make music with other young musicians from throughout the region
Looking Ahead
These festivals are an important first step in rebuilding CHYS. Our goal is to use the 2026–27 season to build participation, enthusiasm, and community while giving students a meaningful musical experience right now.
We envision CHYS returning to a weekly youth orchestra model beginning in the 2027–28 season, with ongoing rehearsals, masterclasses, performances, and additional opportunities for young musicians.
We’re building this next chapter together—and we’re excited about what comes next.

During Massachusetts public school vacation week
Students who have already auditioned and been accepted into CHYS are automtically eligible for both festivals. Additional students may audition and join through our online registration process, subject to the program’s basic membership requirements.

Students are encouraged to challenge themselves while building strong musical fundamentals and ensemble skills.
A Supportive Community
One of the most meaningful aspects of CHYS is the sense of connection students develop with one another.

Students come from many different schools and communities throughout MetroWest and Central Massachusetts, united by a shared love of music.
Performance Opportunities
Students participate in autumn and winter performances and may also have opportunities to:
· Perform chamber music
· Collaborate with professional musicians
· Perform alongside members of the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra
These experiences help students grow artistically while gaining valuable performance experience.
Led by Alumni Paying It Forward
The Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies are now led by former CHYS students who experienced the program firsthand and have returned as educators and mentors.
Anna Damigella, Zachary Surapine, and Augustine Marzoratti understand how transformative youth music programs can be, and they are committed to creating that same sense of opportunity, mentorship, and belonging for the next generation.
Family Communication
We value strong communication with families and strive to create an organized and supportive experience for both students and parents.

Auditions are designed to help place students in the ensemble where they will thrive.
We encourage students to come prepared, but we also want them to feel welcomed and supported throughout the process.

Families who register for auditions will receive FREE tickets to the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra’s November Season Opening concert.
